About the Archive

A curated and visualized collection of independent perfume brands.

The premise

A perfume is usually shown as a bottle, a campaign, a price. The Archive sets those aside and treats each work as a composition: its notes, its structure, and the arc it traces from first contact to the last trace left on skin.

The portrait

Every accession is rendered as an olfactory portrait: a generated image read top to base, bright to grounded. It is not a picture of the bottle but a portrait of the smell, a way to see a scent before you can wear it, and to recognise its relatives across the collection.

The catalogue

Each brand has its own collection identifier, releases are numbered in the order they entered it. A work’s number, OA-027.3, fixes its brand and its place in the collection, and never changes. It is the work’s permanent address here.

On acquisition

Nothing is sold in volume. Each listing offers a sample beside the full bottles. Every order is supplied and shipped by the brand, so a sample reaches you from the same hands that composed it.

Submissions

The Archive accepts work from independent perfume brands. A composition is described, its portrait drawn, and a catalogue number assigned the moment it is accessioned and placed on view.
